I've learned way too many new words here to count but my favorite and the most useful word in my new vocab is "stingin" ...it's basically hurtin...but it can also mean that your a loser...generally a humorous negative term! After the last few days of training my legs are quite sore...and by quite i mean waking-up-in-the-middle-of-night-to-take-advil-and-get-on-the-foam-roller kind of sore! haha after 2.5hrs of hill reps and sprints, the first time back in the gym with core, squats and jumps, a double run day and a 4hr ride with 2 hill climbs (nebo/glorious) my body is hurting a little! I've had a few ice baths and a good massage so hopefully i'll be better soon. Total body soreness is no fun but tis the season!
My riding has been going really well lately and my knee pain has cleared up completely! I think this is a result of a fabulous bike fit I had when i was home. It was done by my dads friend Don Henderson at Fort St. Cycle. We made quite a few adjustments...well we are working our way up to them but the results are already incredible! Apparently my position was attrotious before! I knew it but never had anything done about it...
I am happy to be back into my routine and getting some consistency in my training. I met with Shaun today to discuss the season and it looks like my first race will be the first of march on the Gold Coast. This will be the same course as Worlds. After that i will get in a few more little races and my favorite race, Mooloolaba world cup, before starting the World Champ Series in Singapore in May. Though, we're still keeping the shackles on for a bit yet!
It's getting hot here today. I am sweating just while writing this blog! Sydney has had a massive heat wave over the past few days..just in time for the Canadian Junior's to come race the Youth Olympic Festival in Sydney! I hear we had some good results..top 10's all around I think so congrats to Pat and his crew! :)
Alright, I'm off for a dip in the pool to cool myself before bed so i can get to sleep!! it's a rough life, isn't it? ;)

Happy New Year!
ok I'm a few days off the mark but I have good reason! I am now back in Brisvegas and getting back into routine. My trip home was awesome! It was nice to spend time with the family (pampered by mom :) and see all my friends, training mates and coaches.
It was pretty busy trying to keep up a full training load and visit with everyone but well worth it! I while on the topic, I have to say...I HATE INDOOR TRAINING!! i never knew how much i hated it until i was forced to because of the snow. I had many tough days on the trainer while i was home...makes me appreciate what i've got going over here! The best one was a 2.5 hour trainer with 6x10 mins hard..i thought Pat's group was coming to the pool to ride for 90 mins so i set up an hour early and figured i'd finish my ride with them..no music or entertainment because with these boys no other form of entertainment is needed! I kept waiting and waiting for someone to show up...1hr passed, 90 mins passed, 2hrs...2.5 NO ONE SHOWED UP! I rode alone staring at a fan and a wall for 2.5 hours. I gave myself bonus points for that one. It felt good to get it done though!
I had a pretty fun New Years with the swimmers and the time after that just flew by! I can't believe how fast 10 days can go! On my last day my family and i went over to Vancouver for a day of shopping! My flight left Vancouver around dinner time...well it was supposed to. Just my luck, another blizzard started in Vancouver about an hour before take off...over 4 hours on the runway waiting in line to get de-iced and take off and we were finally able to begin the 16 hour flying time. No upgrades or extra seats for me this time! I didn't sleep the entire 21 hours!! i missed my connecting flight in Auckland and had to wait an extra 6 hours before the 3hr flight to Brisbane then take the train to central station where i hopped in a cab home through rush hour traffic...all of this with 4 suitcases...not so easy for one person! I finally arrived 41 hours after i left home! I have been pretty tired the past few days and just easing back into the training. I'll post again when the training gets going again!
I hope everyone had a good holiday and all the best for 2009! Here's to a better year than 2008! (which shouldn't be all that hard for me!! ;)
